Brand new news come from the Executive Board Student Organization Faculty of Economic, Brawijaya University (BEM FE UB). A letter from the Directorate of Institutional Affairs, Directorate General Higher Education (DIKTI) on October 13, 2009 stated that Hakim (nickname) was invited to come to The Netherland for BEM Comparative Study in Den Haag, The Netherland for a week for Knowledge Development Program for Chief of BEM University Level.
To join this program, Hakim had to faced selection process started from selection in his university (Brawijaya University) until national selection process (by DIKTI). This program had been already arranged by DIKTI in 2009. “The goal of this program is the leader of student organization in university able to increase the quality both self quality and university quality by keeping the identity of nation to support acceleration of international based university. Besides, hopefully this program able increasing the relation between Indonesia students and foreign students, and also broaden perspective for academic and international forum”, said Hakim.
Comparative study program will be held for a week , November 7-14 2009. There are 90 participants (best students from universities in Indonesia) that spread into 3 batches of group (China, Australia, and The Netherlands). Each batch consist of 25-26 students and 4-5 supervisors (from DIKTI or Representative of University for Students Department). With 90 participants, Hakim will be gathered in Jakarta on Thursday (5/11) for induction. They will fly to each destination country on Saturday (7/11).
These are the schedule for comparative study that Hakim will be followed during his visitation to Den Haag, in the first day, the participants will have meeting with Indonesia Embassy in Den Haag, second day, they will get a chance to meet Indonesian student that study in The Netherland. Third day, the participants will visit (comparative study) some universities in Den Haag like Wageningen University and Research Center, Radboud University Nijmegen. Forth day visitation will be focused to University of Twente, and visitation to University of Groningen on the fifth day. During the visitation in some Den Haag universities in Den Haag, the participants will have discussion forum about leadership, student, student organization, talent and interest, students’ welfare, entrepreneurship, and student competency development to strengthen the nation competitiveness by local students. After doing comparative study, participants will be invited to visit some tourism places. Saturday (14/11) the participants will go back to Indonesia. “ We, comparative study participants, also required to create the report for the comparative study activities (description about universities, benefit of activities, and recommendation about student organizations, universities, and people) by DIKTI after coming back to Indonesia,” said Hakim, who already attended National Economic Symposium and Indonesian Economic Students Forum in University of Indonesia few days ago.
